An extensive two-month cruise through Australia was terminated following the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the ship on a distant island.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the vessel, but separated from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel became aware the passenger was not present.

A major hunt discovered her body the subsequent day.

Officials are examining the tragedy, in coordination with investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that travelers and crew on the vessel were informed that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the return journeys of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Authorities also published an updated statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" preventing any new passengers from boarding the vessel.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the vessel in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The vessel first departed Cairns on October 24th, and was merely two days into the expedition at the time of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Relatives Statement

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her family was "shocked and saddened that the vessel left the location after an scheduled tour without my mum".
