The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
